Balmoral cancels visit to Whitstable Harbour

A combination of the recent bad weather and the non-availability of her base in Gravesend has meant the much-loved Balmoral will not be visiting Whitstable Harbour this week and next.

White Funnel, the operators of the motor vessel, made the announcement earlier this week. She was due to visit on Friday (9 June) and Monday (12 June).

Cllr Pat Todd, chairman of Whitstable Harbour Board, said: “It is a shame the Balmoral was unable to make it this year despite her crew making every effort to get here.

“We really hope to see her back in Whitstable again next year.”

Balmoral was built in 1949 and for a time was the flagship of the Southampton Red Funnel Fleet.
