Whitstable Harbour Board have approved the submission of a planning application for the redevelopment of South Quay Shed at Whitstable Harbour.
The proposal intends to create an indoor and outdoor all year round, covered area for a mixed used community space. This will be supported by small start up business units for local artists with workshops, food outlets, museum and exhibition areas of local interest for educational purposes and community based events.
The application can be viewed and public comments can be made formally through Canterbury City Council’s planning portal until the 10th August: ref. CA//18/01438
A Harbour consultation will be launched on the 13th of August on this website and advertised through the local press and social media sites. The Development Team are keen to engage and discuss the running of the facility with suitably experienced, locally based business enterprises. They would also like to hear any ideas for community events, workshops and exhibitions of local interest.
Whitstable Harbour Board will also be happy to discuss the project in person at the Annual Meeting on the 5th September at St Alphege Infant School. Results of the consultation and planning application will then be presented at the Harbour Board meeting on the 21st September at Whitstable Castle.
